Wombat X is a modular and reconfigurable service robot that will be deployed in various types of building interiors. The inspiration behind the design was to create a versatile system that can perform multiple tasks. It is broken down into three key elements: the robot base platform, stackable units containing additional control mechanisms and functional equipment, and a frame to mount end-effectors and sensors. The base platform comprises the drive mechanisms and electric components. It can be used with different wheel and track options for indoor and outdoor environments. With its versatile frame system, the robot can be equipped with various sensors, including depth cameras, 2D LiDAR, 3D LiDAR scanners and so forth, for mapping the environment and localization purposes. Wombat X is lightweight and easy to control remotely or wired. Intended applications are logistics, spatial mapping, fumigation and spraying (in landscaping).
