1.As a nature enthusiast, I have always been deeply captivated by the elegant flight and delicate wing movements of butterflies during observation. At the same time, I noticed that many drones are noisy, energy-intensive, and disruptive to natural environments and wildlife. This inspired me to design a nature reserve-oriented bio-inspired silent flapping-wing aircraft that is quiet, energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly—ideal for nature observation while minimizing ecological impact.
2.Noise issue: Traditional drones generate significant noise from their propellers, which tends to disturb wildlife, whereas this nature reserve-oriented bio-inspired silent flapping-wing aircraft operates almost silently.
Energy efficiency: This project adopts a biomimetic flapping-wing propulsion system. By periodically flapping the wings to generate unsteady lift and incorporating elastic energy-storing structures within the wings, partial kinetic energy recovery is achieved. Under the same battery capacity, this design theoretically increases endurance efficiency by 15%–25%.
Ecological friendliness: The biomimetic design reduces environmental disruption, making it suitable for monitoring in nature reserves.
Educational value: This bionic technology inspires more children to develop an interest in nature and science.
3.Biomimetic structure: Fully replicating the wing structure and flapping patterns of butterflies allows for more agile flight.
Material innovation: Ultra-lightweight carbon fiber tubes are used as the main wing skeleton, combined with flexible and tear-resistant polyimide (PI) biomimetic membranes. This composite material perfectly recreates the lightweight yet robust physical characteristics of real butterfly wings.
Intelligent adaptability: The wings automatically adjust their angle in response to wind direction, offering greater stability than traditional drones.
Interactive design: With one-button intelligent pairing and low-noise ecological flight logic, along with a control system adapted for children and a modular participatory structure, this design ensures safety and ease of use while creating a "gentle interaction between humans and nature" through biomimetic flight.
4.Nature observation: Observing butterflies migrating long distances with minimal energy in the wild inspired me to think about efficient flight.
Science curriculum: Learning about biomimetics—such as how humans draw technological inspiration from birds and insects—has enriched this project.
Environmental awareness: Recognizing that traditional drones may disturb animal life, I aimed to create a technological product that coexists harmoniously with nature.
