At the Renaissance Hangzhou Northeast Hotel, a series of embroidered wall installations named Golden Tide transforms the raw power of the Qiantang River into a quiet, tactile poetry. Commissioned exclusively for the guestrooms, this artwork captures the river's legendary tidal bore—its surging momentum and rhythmic flow—through the delicate language of hand embroidery. A textured grey base fabric evokes the tranquil surface of the river at rest, while golden threads trace the dynamic movements of the rising tide. Some stitches stretch long and smooth like gentle waves; others gather in dense clusters, capturing the explosive energy of the bore as it charges upstream. Under shifting light, the metallic threads glow like scattered gold, recalling ancient verses that celebrate the river's grandeur.
