The intelli-HEAT™ Dual Fuel System from Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US LLC (METUS) is helping homeowners bridge to a more electrified, sustainably built environment by integrating heat pump and gas furnace systems and reducing fossil fuel usage. This new Mitsubishi Electric solution is compatible with any thermostatically controlled gas furnace and works with both single-zone and multi-zone systems. intelli-HEAT empowers homeowners who own gas furnaces to improve their homes’ comfort and sustainability by using an energy-efficient, all-electric heat pump as their primary heating source. The furnace remains available to the homeowner as a heating source for extreme cold conditions.

With intelli-HEAT intelligently managing system function and comfort, the variable-capacity heat pump provides air conditioning and gas-free heat year-round while using the furnace blower for air distribution.

Because an intelli-HEAT system burns no gas, and generally requires less energy to heat a home than a typical gas furnace, homeowners with gas furnaces can reduce their fossil fuel dependency and enjoy the benefits of all-electric, high-performance heat pumps.

Integrating cold-climate Hyper-Heating INVERTER® (H2i®) heat pump technology with existing furnaces, this dual fuel system provides all-electric heating down to -11° F, with 100% heating capacity down to 5° F. The intelligent switchover function uses a selectable, preset balance point to switch between the heat pump and the furnace as needed based on economic or energy saving goals.

Homeowners can manage intelli-HEAT systems with Mitsubishi Electric's versatile control options, including kumo cloud®, kumo touch™ and select wired controllers. intelli-HEAT also supports third-party thermostats.

intelli-HEAT works with both single-zone and multi-zone systems. It is offered in multiple capacities at 18, 24, 30, 36 and 42 KBTU/H and can be installed in vertical, downflow and horizontal configurations.

Optimizing variable-speed technology and smart controls, homeowners can experience lowered utility bills, a quieter outdoor environment and reduced greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
