QiYun: The Cloud-Inspired Lacquerware Urn is a contemporary memorial vessel that redefines the traditional urn by integrating symbolic design, heritage craftsmanship, and sustainable materials. Inspired by the soft, flowing form of clouds, QiYun offers a gentle and emotionally resonant way to honor the departed. In Chinese culture, clouds symbolize spiritual ascension, eternity, and peace—making them a meaningful motif for the journey of the soul. QiYun transforms this symbolism into a refined, sculptural object that speaks to both the heart and the eye.

Unlike conventional urns, which are often boxy or impersonal, QiYun features an organic cloud-like silhouette that exudes warmth and serenity. The urn is crafted from responsibly sourced hardwoods, such as rosewood and mahogany, selected for their durability and natural beauty. The exterior is finished with natural lacquer (生漆)—a renewable, biodegradable material derived from the lacquer tree, applied in a multi-step, artisan-led process that includes brushing, polishing, and sealing. This technique, rooted in Chinese craftsmanship traditions, not only enhances the urn’s tactile and visual appeal but also offers superior protection against moisture and decay.

Every QiYun urn is handcrafted by skilled lacquer artisans, preserving an ancient craft while creating a product that feels deeply personal and contemporary. The lid and base are designed to fit seamlessly along the curves of the cloud form, ensuring both functional precision and aesthetic harmony.

QiYun addresses a growing market demand for memorial products that reflect personalization, environmental consciousness, and emotional depth. It is more than a resting place—it is a piece of cultural storytelling, a work of art, and a symbol of lasting remembrance.

By bridging the past and the present, tradition and innovation, QiYun sets a new benchmark for memorial design. It offers families a way to honor their loved ones not just with function, but with beauty, dignity, and soul.
