BEACON
Recognizing a building and setting it as a marker or point of reference for people creates the opportunity for a new type of branding, one where the location and tenancies are immediately a part of the vernacular.
As a source of light and sculpture Beacon enhances the space it occupies, offering warmth and intrigue.
Beacon rises 5 stories into the façade’s lightwell before spreading out like a river of light into the main atrium, creating subtle wayfinding suggestions. The 3 arms offer potential directions, breakout area, lift lobby and Café. In the café area it extends again, with a circumference of the space and creates a warm contained nook.
The glass like structures are 300m long in total and the vertical sections are suspended on steel cables secured at the very top of the lightwell ceiling. Multiple drivers power the extensive length of 3000K LED Neon strip, and an internal bus cable ensures there are not dull sections where the LEDs change to another driver.
The fixture is designed in 600mm sections for ease of installation, and replacement of cassettes if required. This also facilitates full end of life recycling opportunities
The atrium has proved very popular and has become a light filled respite and meeting place for the occupants.
