REDLINE is a premium espresso machine for driving enthusiasts who value the process as much as the result. Drawing from racing and manual driving, the project treats espresso preparation as an active performance: reading feedback, managing variables, and making adjustments.

Interviews with baristas and enthusiast drivers revealed a shared preference for tactile control, mechanical feedback, and uninterrupted workflow over automation.

In response, REDLINE is organized around clarity, involvement, and feedback. The interface is streamlined, since extra knobs, screens, and gauges created visual noise and weakened usability. Pressure, time, and yield are consolidated into a central gauge, allowing key extraction variables to be read together for quicker decisions.

The flagship feature is the clear top design, inspired by the openness of a car engine bay. Rather than using visible mechanics as decoration, REDLINE exposes essential components to make the machine easier to understand, access, repair, and maintain. This transparency helps users build a stronger relationship with the product while extending service life, reducing unnecessary replacement, and supporting a responsible environmental approach. Accessible construction supports a more focused approach to servicing, allowing components that need attention to be reached and addressed while preserving the rest of the machine.

By designing around continued access and maintenance, REDLINE encourages owners to see servicing as a natural part of ownership rather than an inconvenience. Keeping the machine in use for longer also preserves the value of the materials, energy, and manufacturing effort already invested in its production. Repair can therefore help reduce discarded equipment and delay the resource demands associated with replacement. In this way, the clear top expresses a broader commitment to longevity, supported by an internal architecture intended to remain accessible throughout the product’s working life.

Every decision is grounded in workflow testing, usability insights, and material responsibility. REDLINE turns espresso making into a precise, tactile, and engaging ritual, while its accessible construction reinforces long-term repairability, maintenance, and sustainability.
