Contemporary self-cooling ceramic tableware.
Before refrigerators, clay vessels known as a ‘jarra’ were used to keep water cool. The water seeps through the walls and evaporates, leaving what’s inside cool and refreshing on a warm summer day. Now, for food safety, ceramics need to be glazed. Glazing however, compromises the natural cooling effect of ceramics.
We have reinterpreted the jarra in a contemporary design that still cools all while meeting safety standards. We use special glazing techniques that allow you to enjoy the refreshing taste of clay cooled water.
Jarra is designed ergonomically with weight distribution in mind – making it easier to pour and hold.
Jarra plays on a duality of old-techniques wrapped in a design that feels suitably modern, giving you a bottle that’s both rustic and new-age, and can almost instantly cool water without requiring any electricity!
What About the Clay?
Clay is a natural and durable material. Its natural and purifying qualities make it an excellent self-cooling material. In present days, ceramics are required to be glazed when in contact with food, as bacteria can grow in the pores of unglazed products. Because of this, the natural cooling effect of ceramics is compromised. Through the use of special glazing and production techniques, Jarra still cools liquid all while meeting safety standards. The cooling can last up to 4 hours. The longer Jarra sits in the open air – the cooler it becomes.

Jarra comes in two sizes:
1.5 liters, and 0.75 liters.
