Zeta - Augmented Reality Neurosurgical Navigation

A major obstacle to improving bedside neurosurgical procedure accuracy with image guidance technologies is the lack of a rapidly deployable, real-time registration & tracking system for a moving patient. Zeta is a computer vision-based navigation system for the real-time tracking of a patient & surgical tools during outpatient and emergent procedures, starting with external ventricular drain (EVD) placement. Due to its emergent nature, this procedure is often performed freehand, and may result in imprecise catheter placement. Zeta enables the precise catheter placement in the brain of patients suffering from a life-threatening build-up of fluid & pressure increase.
