WeAudit is a simple but powerful web app that lets people explore and uncover bias in AI-generated images. Built to make AI transparency more accessible, it empowers users to engage with everyday technology in a more thoughtful and critical way.

Users start by entering image prompts—like "a female scientist"—and comparing results across different AI models. WeAudit highlights subtle differences, such as how age, gender, or race are portrayed differently depending on the prompt or model. With friendly guidance, users are encouraged to notice these patterns and reflect on what they mean.

To make the experience more engaging, WeAudit includes a structured reflection flow, visual guides, and a community forum where users can share what they found, verify each other’s reports, and learn together. A gamified system with badges and leaderboards motivates users to keep exploring, whether they are students, educators, or just curious about AI.

While the platform is made for everyone, it also supports a broader mission. As people contribute reports, WeAudit’s system aggregates this data to reveal larger patterns. A research dashboard helps AI developers and policymakers understand these trends and improve how models are built and evaluated.

Created by the Human-Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, WeAudit bridges the gap between complex AI systems and the people they affect every day. It invites everyone—regardless of technical background—to participate in building a more transparent and fair future for AI.
