Sage: Passing Wisdom to Next Generations

Sage is an online platform dedicated to empowering seniors by providing meaningful and age-friendly job opportunities to share their wisdom and expertise with young adults seeking mentorship. In a world where the elderly population is on the rise, Sage aims to create a space where seniors can continue to thrive financially, socially, and intellectually after retirement.

Through 1:1 calls, podcast content, and community interactions facilitated by the age-friendly Sage device and mobile application, senior mentors engage with mentees on a wide range of topics, from career guidance to personal relationships. This unique platform not only benefits seniors by offering them paid opportunities, reducing social isolation, and instilling a sense of purpose, but also enriches the lives of young adults by providing access to invaluable knowledge, personal development advice, and intergenerational connections.

In order to fulfill the needs and desires of both generations in terms of user experience, Sage has created two separate user interfaces tailored to each type of user. Mentees will interact with their mentors through the Sage mobile app, which features clean and modern interfaces that can be easily downloaded onto their cell phones. Seniors, on the other hand, will receive a custom-designed Sage device as part of a welcome kit that includes business cards, notes, and pens. Given that the mentors will work remotely, the primary goal was to ensure age-friendly interfaces so that senior users can perform smoothly by themselves. Our custom-designed device provides a wide touch screen with larger and easily readable fonts, LED lights that serve as alarms to notify mentors of upcoming meetings, intuitive physical buttons that offer shortcuts to frequently used functions, and finally, a one-click troubleshoot button that allows senior users to connect to the Sage tech support team.
