The Tip Device is an intuitive, non-invasive, and high precision accessible interface. This device allows users to control cursor movements, mouse clicks, swipes, taps and unique expressions/ tailored motions/customized actions just through simple tongue movements. The patented innovative Tip sensor is positioned in the upper palate of the user's mouth. The design of the device is tailored to maximize ease of use, ensuring seamless experience and ergonomics.
For enhanced accessibility and hygiene purposes, the mouth module is designed as a disposable (razor-and-blade model), affordable, and easily detachable from the headset, allowing for a quick replace.
Two main goals shaped the design of this project: to ensure maximum intuitiveness for the user and to make the mouth module as ergonomic and lightweight as possible. The thickness of the mouth module, placed in the mouth cavity, ranges from 0.4 to 1.05 mm, and it weighs about 8 grams (excluding the weight of the connector). Primary users of the device are individuals with spinal injuries who have a complete inability to use their hands. Therefore, special attention was given to the ergonomics and anthropometric details, during the design phase, like the headset, which is made of soft silicone with an adjustable shape. The ear hook design minimizes contact with hard plastic, which is crucial for long-term.
