The Lapis Lazuli Collection is based on the form of clouds supporting a gourd, translating the imagery of rising clouds and arriving fortune into a clear and tangible design. Clouds unfold upward in layered forms, lifting the gourd and creating a vertical structure that suggests blessings descending from above. In an Eastern cultural context, clouds are regarded as auspicious signs, while the gourd, a homophone of “fortune and prosperity,” carries wishes for both. With clouds as the bridge and the gourd as the vessel, these meanings are expressed directly through the form, resulting in a composition that is clear and well-balanced.
The series uses lapis lazuli, a deep blue natural stone often marked with fine golden specks. Its color appears calm and concentrated, without spreading outward, while the subtle golden particles emerge gently under changing light, creating delicate variations reminiscent of a night sky.
