ZIPRAY Aero1 — An Integrated Aero-Optic Component for Performance Cycling
Race bikes are shaped to cut through air. A cylindrical light bolted to the stem undoes that work, and riders end up trading watts for visibility — or quietly skipping the light on fast rides. Aero1 refuses the trade.
Optics and airflow share one structure. The body is a NACA-derived airfoil, refined through successive CFD iterations until it settled at Cd 0.15 — 81% less drag than a conventional light. Performance stops being the reason to ride unseen.
Inside the airfoil's outer shield sits a patent-pending dual-layer lens. Mounted horizontally, it casts a StVZO-compliant cut-off beam 25 meters ahead: the braking distance a rider actually needs at race speed. The cut-off matters beyond the rider — oncoming traffic isn't blinded, a small courtesy that makes shared roads work.
The mount is where the design quietly earns its keep. It reads as a flow-guiding fin, not a clamp — bracket and body merging into a single silhouette. A magnetic keyway aligns the light; a mechanical lock holds it through cobblestones. No tools to remove.
A matte polymer shell with an aluminum bezel sheds heat and holds IP56. GaN fast charging returns hours of runtime from a short top-up, so daily use doesn't require planning around it.
Co-developed with manufacturing partners, Aero1 is entering production — so the fastest riders no longer have to be the least visible ones.
