Serratus Pepper Mill

The Serratus pepper mill is a playful reimagination of the familiar household classic. The intention was to evoke curiosity and surprise the user; the design, at first glance, appears to be a single continuous piece of wood, almost impossibly delicate, with the function of the object not immediately evident. In truth, this device is quite straightforward: simply twist the top to produce fresh pepper.

Although the mill appears to be fragile, it is actually incredibly strong; stainless steel hides behind wood well under a millimeter thick at the isthmus. There is no need to exercise caution using this product; these mills are virtually indestructible!

A stainless steel funnel built into the bottom provides a convenient way to refill the pepper and also allowed us to refine the weight balance of the mill. The mill features a Danish ceramic grinding mechanism durable enough to be used with salt (including “wet salts”) without compromising longevity.

Every step of our unique production process was developed from scratch specifically for this product. The base and the top knob, which begin production as a single solid block of wood, are crafted separately, then meticulously honed and re-assembled to form the curvaceous grain-matched body of the mill. Each pepper mill is carefully crafted over the course of several days, with every operation requiring tight tolerances and an experienced eye for detail.
