The Black family of products is born from the conquering spirit of the people of the Pampa Gaucho, in the extreme south of Brazil, where hard work, food and fire are inseparable companions in the countryside. For decades, the Gaucho people roamed the countryside, opening new paths, raising animals and planting their own crops. So, straight from the Brazilian south, where barbecue has its origins, this line expresses the roots of this centuries-old culture of preparing food in the countryside, where cooking and fire meet through a knife and a few utensils.
We found the richness of this passion that human beings acquired through the tools that they once carried on their bodies and their riding companions. To recreate and revive this essence of many generations of farm workers, we sought to find master lines through the design of old knives, machetes and axes that guided us to design something new.
With the weight of history in our hands, it is only fair to make knives with blades of special steel that represent the hardness of the first pioneers. The darkened and brushed finish ensures longevity and the wear and tear suffered by time spent in the field. The rustic wooden handles carry the brand engraved with fire as in the past, and also feature the responsible FSC certified treatment. Their timeless design is reminiscent of small old axes, made to be carried on horses to produce firewood for fires and other tasks that required strength and agility. They value ergonomics, ideal balance and precise cutting, also carrying the tradition of a century-old cutlery manufacturer. The utensils, which were rudimentary at the time, are reborn with the durability and robustness of antiquity but with the practicality that modern life demands. The black line revives the roots of the gaucho barbecue and its culture for the contemporary world.
